Rock City Art is pleased to announce ‘What The World Is Waiting For’. Award winning photographer Ian Tilton is set to bring his Photographs Of The Rise Of The Stone Roses to Bedford in June, with a launch party being held on the evening of June 1st.
Based in Manchester, Ian Tilton began his career in the eighties, shooting iconic bands around the world such as Guns N Roses, Iggy Pop, The Stone Roses, Aztec Camera, Bjork, The Smiths, U2, The Cure and Bon Jovi. Tilton’s shot of Nirvana’s exhausted and tearful Kurt Cobain was hailed by Q Magazine as one of the 6 best rock photographs of all time - while his photo of the Stone Roses front man Ian Brown with an orange in his mouth has gone down in rock n roll photographic legend.
What The World Is Waiting For exhibits over 40 photographs capturing the Stone Roses at their most interesting period - their rise from obscurity in 1987 to worldwide cult status 1990. Ian Tilton and The Stone Roses lived in the same area of Manchester. “We bonded on our first shoot together as none of us wanted to create something boring. We held a mutual appreciation of creating something conceptually different.”- Ian Tilton
The exhibition is free to all and will also be accompanied by a seminar hosted by Ian Tilton himself on June 2nd . Within the seminar, stories will be shared behind the photographs on display and his photography in general with a Q&A session held afterwards. The seminar will commence at 4pm and run for 2hrs max. Tickets for this event are available for £15 from the Rock City Art online store or directly from the gallery and are strictly limited to 25 people.

Rock City Art is proud to announce the launch of Tony Woolliscroft's Red Hot Chili Peppers Exhibition on June 22nd and then a Seminar on the saturday morning by Tony the day before the band headline Knebworth.
Tony has been working with the band since 1990 when he was asked to shot the band for RAW magazine and he has also been working on choosing the shots that will be Exhibited with Chad from the band.
" I’d fallen in love with their last album ‘Uplift Mofo Party Plan’ but missed them playing over here on that tour, so they were back in the UK playing shows and promoting their new album ‘Mothers Milk’.Luckily for me Craig was promoting the London show and suggested that we went to see the band play in Portsmouth. I was blown away, they were amazing, I’d seen nothing like it and I’ve seen some bands over the years. I was gutted I hadn’t taken my cameras with me! After the show we went backstage to meet the band and were given access all areas tour passes, I later used this to great effect as I shot the London show the night after and instead of getting 3 songs I had the whole set. I shot some black and white rolls of film that night too for the band and when they came back from Europe on the way home I gave them some prints. The night at the Astoria will always be etched on my mind as one of the best times I’ve ever seen the band and everybody who was fortunate enough to be there agrees. I got to the venue early in the afternoon and said my hellos to everyone and I was shown the stage set before the show started. The equipment had been painted in UV paint and I was tipped off the band were also going to paint themselves in the UV paint too, so I quickly went and bought the fastest slide film I could, enabling me to shoot the show without flash.
The show is free to enter and tickets can also be purchased for the Seminar by clicking here.
